Musicians

Miriam Carpenter, soprano

Miriam Carpenter grew up in a musical family, with parents as classical and professional musicians. She sang for eight years with Mostly Motets, an a cappella chamber ensemble directed by her father, Timothy Carpenter, and studied voice as a teenager at Westminster Choir College. Singing has remained a longstanding part of her life.

A Pennsylvania-based artist, Carpenter works across wood sculpture, woodturning, furniture, ceramics, and works on paper. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she began her career at the studio of George Nakashima. Her practice translates systems of pattern through material exploration and process-driven technique. She has presented four major solo exhibitions, including her first museum solo show in 2021. In 2025, she was a finalist for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s residency program, and her work—held in private and public collections internationally—was nominated for the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum’s National Design Awards.

Cece Cramer, soprano

“All I know is something like a bird within her sang..”

No matter where life has taken her, music has been a constant for Cece. Born to two music lovers, she was exposed to a wide variety of genres from a young age. Years of piano lessons and singing in school choruses afforded her a musical foundation upon which she continues to build. Though straying from formal music education in her 20’s, Cece continued to stoke her passion for discovering “new”- from the past and present- music, as well as teaching herself the basics of playing ukulele and guitar. During this time, she resided in Ashland, Oregon, where she attended university and began to build a career as a youth mentor. Looking to nurture another passion of hers- language learning- in 2019, she applied for and accepted a teaching position in a middle school in Madrid, Spain. In a simple twist of fate, she was tasked with teaching not only English but music. At the end of her two-year contract, and after many years away from “home”, Cece decided to return to NJ, where she now lives on a farm and dedicates herself to learning about land stewardship and restoration.

When not singing, you may find Cece birdwatching, playing guitar, taking photos, or on her yoga mat. She is very grateful to have stumbled into NHSLCM.

Kimberly Hess, soprano

Kim is not only a member of Harmonia but also Bucks County Choral Society and Cantus Novus.  She also is involved with many community theatres - acting, producing and directing.  Currently she is in a production at Old Academy Players in East Falls, Philadelphia.

Lexi Maze, soprano

Hi! I’m Lexi and I’ve loved to sing for as long as I can remember. My introduction to singing for an audience was through musical theater in grammar school; then I discovered I love writing songs to sing while playing guitar or piano. I’ve been a part of many singing groups, including a madrigal choir, The Princeton Girl Choir, and my college a cappella group. Now, I’m excited to be a charter member here! I love singing Soprano 1, because I crave those ridiculously high notes!

Amy Moskovitz, soprano

Amy has had a robust adoration for singing ever since she was a little girl. Singing became her life’s passion early on when she was told that she has a talent for singing and was given her first solo from her elementary school music teacher. Throughout her K-12 years and during her years of undergraduate studies, Amy has been a member of numerous auditioned vocal ensembles and has performed in many different musicals as well. Amy has been a vocal performer in a variety of talent shows throughout the years. In addition, she has performed vocally in the schools where she has worked since 2000. Amy was a member of the Bucks County Choral Society during the 2010-2011 season and is absolutely thrilled to once again sing in an auditioned vocal ensemble. Her desire to sing has only been strengthened over the years. To her, music and singing are essentials, necessities, and absolutes in life that are never to be ignored, nor minimized.

Amy has been married to her husband, Jason, for 21 years in October. Amy and Jason have a son, Zach, who is currently a freshman majoring in Supply Chain Management at Bloomsburg University. Amy and her family have a cat named Winter, who was adopted over 3 and a half years ago. Amy has a B.S. in Education with concentrations in Psychology and Reading from Kutztown University of PA. She also has an M.A. in Education from LaSalle University. Amy is currently a special education teacher at New Hope-Solebury Lower Elementary School and has been employed in New Hope-Solebury School District since 2020. Amy has been in the field of special education since 2001.

Kim Kurki, alto

Kim Kurki has been working as an illustrator since graduating from Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (magna cum laude) in 1980. Her work has been published and distributed world-wide on fine art prints, packaging, and numerous stationery and gift products. Other work includes corporate commissions (Merck & Co. Inc.) and illustrations for Yankee Publishing (The Old Farmer’s Almanac). Her most noteworthy project so far has been writing and illustrating National Wildlife Federation’s World of Birds: A Beginner’s Guide, a children’s book for ages 7-12. www.kurkiillustration.com

Besides illustration, Ms. Kurki creates stained glass panels with Bill Osler of Osler-Kurki Studio Stained Glass. She is the designer and he is the fabricator. Their work can be seen in numerous public buildings and private spaces. www.oslerkurki.artspan.com

Kim’s musical history has been limited to various choral groups throughout her school years, and she was honored to be accepted into District and Regional Choruses during high school. A particular claim to fame was a personal theme song that she was asked to sing on a regular basis on her field hockey team bus…a sort of pre-game ritual.

By popular demand, she performed the song during a talent show assembly, spontaneously inserting a strip-tease into the act, with other team members as back-up singers. Recently, she has participated in more “serious singing” as a member of New Hope-Solebury & Lambertville Community Choir (NHSLCC) for about 8 years, for which she also served on the NHSLCC Board as President (in name) and Treasurer.

Louise Max, alto

Louise Max has always had a lifelong interest in music. Her mother, who was a talented pianist and church organist, encouraged her to begin piano lessons at age seven. In addition to playing the piano, she also occasionally plays native American flute, Irish tin whistle and folk harp. She enjoys playing songs by ear and improvising harmonies with other singers.

Louise has also sung second alto in church choirs and school choruses when she was young, and an advanced womens’ choral group in Vermont before joining the community chorus in New Hope.

She is enthusiastic about being part of Harmonia under Rick Rosen’s direction and will enjoy singing with the talented women in this group.

Sarah Moyer, alto

“How can I keep from singing?”

Music has always been Sarah’s anchor.  Years of studying piano, performing in musicals, and singing in diverse ensembles has shaped her into a lifelong musician.  While earning her degree in chemical engineering, she stepped into the choral "big leagues”, singing for four years under the direction of the legendary Dr. Robert Page.

Today, Sarah lives in Bucks County with her husband, Toby. She balances a demanding career in the pharmaceutical industry by immersing herself in choral music, giving the analytical side of her brain a chance to rest. It brings her joy to engage her body, mind, and soul in music-making!  She is thrilled to be singing with the exceptional women of Harmonia.

Alison Mutchler, alto

Alison has loved to sing for as long as she can remember and has shared that passion through a variety of choirs over the years. When she isn’t singing or working as a pharmaceutical scientist, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her college-age sons, Nathan and Nicholas, and hiking in the woods with her husband, Matt, and their dog, Stormy. She is excited to join the group and continue making music with others.
