Community Choir

Now in its fifteenth year, the Community Choir is a volunteer, mixed-choral group dedicated to building community through song and embracing and promoting the joy of music making. Individuals with diverse musical backgrounds and skillsets are welcome without audition. Through weekly rehearsals and three mini-concerts, the Community Choir will nurture the “inner singer” of each member.

The purposes of this organization are:

To provide an opportunity for members to be educated in musicality and music history while improving skills and technique.
To build community within the group itself as a social network and source of the mutual benefits of singing as natural therapy and joyful experience…and fun!!!
To establish and maintain connections with surrounding communities by offering musical outreach programs in nursing facilities, retirement communities, and other public/private venues, sharing the joy of song.
To make a wide range of choral music easily accessible to our members and, subsequently, to our concert and outreach audiences.
To provide an alternative to the formal concert experience by presenting a unique variety of musical selections, and by encouraging audience interaction and participation.

Our Accompianist - Roburt Gajdos

Roburt Gajdos - M.A. (composition), College of New Jersey; B.A. (piano), University of the Arts

Roburt studied with Susan Starr, Joseph Schwartz, Mathilde McKinney, Edward Hatrak, and Dr. Eugene Copeland, and studied piano with Olga d’Stroumillo, an associate of Vladimir Horowitz, with an emphasis on the study of tone production.

His concert career has included performances for Delaware Valley College, New Jersey State Museum Concert Series, Trenton Cultural Center, Heritage Towers, Bucks County Community College, and Trenton Symphony. Roburt has performed works by composers Andrea Clearfield and Derek Bell with Philadelphia oboe virtuoso Rheta Smith, and has accompanied violin virtuoso Alexander Djokic as part of Duo Esterhazy in New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Baltimore, New Hope, and Lambertville. Roburt has also collaborated on original works for art and piano at numerous art show openings and at an acclaimed exhibit at the Trenton Cultural Center

Roburt is the accompanist for the new Women’s Choir, New Hope-Solebury & Lambertville Community Choir, and the Abington Choral Club. He is the pianist for St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in New Hope. For many years he taught piano and was the accompanist for the Hellyer Performing Arts Center and recently served for several years as the accompanist for Cordus Mundi.
